The Kandy police say that thieves have broken into a house in Kandy’s Hantana housing scheme belonging to lawyer Sujeewa Senasinghe, a former state minister.
Mr. Sujeewa Senasinghe came to the Kandy Police in the complaint made yesterday that 200000 rupees, gold articles worth 100,000 rupees and a car battery worth 100,000 rupees were stolen from a cupboard in a room of the house.
Mr. Sujeewa Senasinghe has told the police that it is suspected that this theft was committed by two employees working at the house. Accordingly, one of the workers was taken into police custody and questioned at length today.
