The Sri Lanka Public Utilities Commission has approved the reduction of electricity tariffs by 14.2% with effect from tomorrow (01).
According to the new tariff revision, the tariff charged as Rs. 30 per unit will be reduced to Rs. 10 for the category with monthly consumption between 0 and 30 units. The fixed fee charged for that category has also been reduced from Rs.400 to Rs.150.
In the below 60 units category, the rate per unit will be reduced from Rs.42 to Rs.32. The monthly fixed fee charged as Rs. 650 for that category has been reduced to Rs. 300.
For the category between 91 and 120 units, the unit fee will be reduced from Rs.42 to Rs.35. Its monthly fixed charge has been reduced from Rs 1500 to Rs 1000.
