    Education will be digitalized

According to Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha, plans have been made to implement the part of the education sector related to the digitalization of government and other services implemented by the government.

The minister said this while joining the main program held today at the Temple House for the awarding of college teacher appointments.

There, 2355 teacher appointments related to Western provinces and national schools were awarded under the leadership of the President and the Minister of Education, while the remaining college appointments were also awarded simultaneously in 8 provinces.

The minister also said that in the future, this university teaching diploma will be extended to four years and developed into a degree level and the teachers who have completed the diploma will be given the opportunity to develop it into a degree.

The Minister further mentioned that the post-graduate courses offered by the South Asian Teacher Development Center established in Meepe will be the basis for that and the programs will be organized together with relevant institutions such as the National Institute of Education and Teacher Training Colleges.

In a world where the speed of knowledge growth is doubling rapidly, the teachers who are appointed today are accepted into the education system as pilots of engaging children in a quality education that pursues sustainable goals to be achieved by 2030 through a transformational change in education with new STEAM education methods combined with technology and artificial intelligence subjects. The minister said.

As a country, we have been able to send 99.5% of the approximately two hundred and fifty thousand children born in this country daily to schools, except for the very few who have special educational needs.

He mentioned that the number of children who complete primary education is also the same.

He also pointed out that we have the ability to maintain a percentage similar to that of a developed country by providing compulsory education up to 15 years.

The minister expressed his appreciation to the officials of the Ministry of Education who committed themselves to make these appointments quickly to avoid the shortage of teachers in schools.
