According to political sources, the President has decided to remove the governors of 3 provinces and appoint new governors instead.
The sources also say that the governors of the three provinces namely North, East and Sabaragamuwa will be removed and replaced by new governors next week after the President comes to the island.
Accordingly, it is reported that Northern Province Governor Jeevan Thyagaraja, Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath and Sabaragamuwa Governor Admiral Wasantha Karnagoda will lose their positions.
A few days ago, an additional secretary of the President’s Secretariat told Mrs. Anuradha Yahampath, Governor of the Eastern Province, that the President informed her to resign from the post of Governor.
