During a recent courtesy call, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, and his delegation were warmly welcomed by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), who emphasized the strong bilateral defence ties between India and Sri Lanka. The CDS expressed his gratitude to the Indian Air Force for their continued support and assistance to the Sri Lanka Air Force, specifically for providing repair and maintenance facilities that were crucial in maintaining the combat effectiveness of the Sri Lankan Air Force during the fight against terrorism. He also highlighted the importance of India’s provision of Drones and Radar Facilities in enhancing the maritime security of the region.
During their discussions, General Shavendra Silva also mentioned the possibility of expanding training opportunities and technical knowledge exchange between the two forces. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari thanked the CDS for the warm reception and expressed his commitment to further strengthening the mutually beneficial relationship between the Indian Air Force and Sri Lanka’s defence sector in the future.
