SSP Padmini Weerasuriya, Director of the Investigation Division of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption, has been transferred to the post of Director, Welfare Division, Police Headquarters with immediate effect.
The relevant IGP’s order was issued by the Police Headquarters today (17).
SSP Nuwan Asanka in charge of the Nugegoda Division has been appointed to fill the vacancy created by her transfer.
Mrs. Padmini Weerasuriya is the first Women Director of the Investigation Division in the history of the Bribery Commission. She joined the Bribery Commission in May 2016 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and also served as its Deputy Director.
Padmini Weerasuriya was appointed to the post of DIG in November 2019 following the promotion of the then Director of Investigations to the Bribery Commission, Priyantha Chandrasiri.
In February 2020, Padmini Weerasuriya was abruptly removed from the post of Director of the Bribery Commission’s Investigation Division and given a new appointment as the Nugegoda Divisional Children and Women’s Affairs Coordinating Officer. Nuwan Asanka was appointed as the Director of the Bribery Commission’s Investigation Division at that time as well. At that time he was working in the CID.
