Necessary steps have been taken to report Covid related deaths within 48 hours, said Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services.
“Earlier, we reported daily deaths as a whole, including deaths in recent days. But from today onwards, deaths related to Covid will be reported on the same day as all deaths within the last 48 hours. We now have a system in place to report all the deaths occur in a single day.
Accordingly, we will report all deaths that occur within 48 to 24 hours on that day, ”said the Director General of Health Services.
Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena also said that, old Covid deaths will not be reported according to this new methodology in the near future.
