Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the circular containing the instructions to stop payment of PAYE tax from affiliated government institutions will be issued next week.
The PAYE tax is a tax that is paid to the government by individuals who earn an income above a certain threshold, according to Siyambalapitiya. He also emphasized that some state institutions and semi-government institutions have been paying this tax previously not as an individual but as an institution.
Mr. Siyambalapitiya also mentioned that such irregularities should be stopped based on the current economic situation in the country.
