The Jaffna police officers have arrested a gang of four people who cheated a woman in Jaffna and robbed Rs. 1.8 million by saying that they would give US dollars at a lower rate than the current exchange rate.
This robbery of money took place on July 23 in the Shivan Temple located on Kankasanthuraya Road, Jaffna.
The Jaffna police said that the woman was brought to the temple and robbed of the money.
The suspects are residents of Trincomalee, Thalawakele and Anuradhapura. Investigations have also revealed that these four criminals were known while in prison for theft and robbery.
