Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena says that this year’s budget will be prepared by including the aid and programs provided by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and friendly countries.
He said that the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund have been fair and the final stage of the report to be submitted to the Board of Directors is being completed.
The Prime Minister said this while speaking to the media after a discussion held yesterday (29) at the Kandy District Secretariat to ensure food safety and nutrition.
He also emphasized that the budget will be brought to the parliament before the committee report prepared by the relevant discussions is presented to the Parliament.
Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena also said that the report prepared by the representatives of the International Monetary Fund with the government will be published after approval by its board of directors.
The Prime Minister said that the President and the Governor of the Central Bank will participate in the relevant discussions as the Minister of Finance and the method of granting loans to the country will be decided by the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund.
He said that without talking about the real crisis that the country is facing, some people are waiting to criticize something.
He said that the expenses for running the government are more than the revenues received by the government through taxes and because of this the taxes had to be increased to some extent and he emphasized that the government will always work to provide relief to the people.
The prime minister said that the accusations made by some that the government is not able to provide gas, fuel and electricity to the people have become stale today and in the same way other problems will also be solved systematically.
