The properties of 74 former government ministers have been damaged in the last few days from May 9 to 14.
Government MPs have been the victims of a number of crimes, including house arson, office arson, vehicle arson and property raids.
The MPs have informed the President to take necessary steps to compensate them for the damage caused.
As a result, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has decided to give 55 temporary houses from the housing complex owned by the Urban Development Authority in Thalawathugoda for former MPs and ministers as some of them have lost their places of residence.
