    Aaccidents in Anamaduwa and Andigama killed 02 people

    Two persons were killed and four others were injured in two separate accidents in Anamaduwa and Adigama areas, police said.

    The accident took place on the 13th.

    One accident has occurred near the smoke testing center on the Anamaduwa – Nawagattegama road. A motorcyclist was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a car traveling from Anamaduwa to Nawagattegama. The car had fled the scene of the accident. The number plate of the vehicle was found at the scene by the residents of the area and handed over to the police.

    Navaratne Ahenayalage Karunasena (70 yr) a resident of Kuda Galgamuwa – Kadapola who was injured in the accident has been admitted to the Anamaduwa District Hospital for treatment. The doctors at the hospital said that the injured had already died while admitting to hospital.

    About 1 ½ hour after the accident, the driver of the car involved in the incident had surrendered to the Anamaduwa Police. The suspect is a resident of Anamaduwa – Paramakandagama.

    Anamaduwa Police are conducting further investigations.

    Meanwhile, one person was killed and three others were injured in another accident on the Adigama – Kiriyankalliya road, Mundalama Police said.

    A motorbike was traveling from Adigama towards Kiriyankalliya. A woman was riding the motorcycle with her two children.

    A car speeding in the same direction tried to pass the motorcycle. Investigations have revealed that the right side handle of the motorcycle had collided with the car at that time.

    The motorcycle collided with the car and overturned, along with the woman and two children. All three sustained minor injuries in the accident.

    The car sped off after the accident. The fleeing car lost control of its driver and crashed into a lamp post and a cassava tree. Both occupants of the car were injured and were admitted to the Mundalama District Hospital for treatment, but one died while admitting.

    The deceased has been identified as Samson Nihal (61 yr) of Attampola Arachchilage, Angunawila, Mundalama. The driver of the car injured in the accident was Mohan Lal Vindaya Mohan (35 yr), a resident of Mundalama – Kirimattawa and their children Warnakulasuriya Rashmika Nethra (02 yr) and Warnakulasuriya Saini (06 yr) are receiving treatment at the Mundalama District Hospital.

    Police say the driver of the car was negligent and speeding was the cause of the accident.

    Mundalama Police are conducting further investigations.
