The CID has arrested a man posing as Secretary to President Gamini Senarath, who had telephoned the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic and threatened to recruit him for the post of Motor Vehicle Inspector.
This person is a 24-year-old resident of Kuliyapitiya.
He applied for the job of motor vehicle inspector and passed the exam.
Police investigations have revealed that the same person who had pretended to be the Secretary to the President had threatened the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic as he was not selected during the interview.
Investigations by the CID have revealed that the youth had obtained the SIM card and a mobile phone in the name of another person and made the threat.
He further added during the threat call that the President had instructed him to recruit the person whose name was mentioned.
At that time the Commissioner had asked that it should be informed in formal writing.
The youth then scolded the commissioner over the phone, saying, “President won’t be sending letters, this is the final warning and he should be recruited, or else I’ll take necessary actions regarding you.”
The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced in court today.
