The Cabinet has decided to increase the guaranteed price of a kilo of Nadu paddy rice by five rupees.
At present the guaranteed price of a kilo of Nadu paddy rice is 50 rupees. Accordingly, the purchase price of a kilo of Nadu paddy rice will increase to Rs. 55.
Nadu paddy farmers continue to call on the government to increase paddy prices. During a recent visit to Polonnaruwa by several government ministers and MPs, paddy farmers demanded that the price of Nadu paddy rice be increased by at least Rs. 5 per kilo.
