Yevgeny Prigoshin, head of Russia’s controversial Wagner mercenaries, was among the passengers on board a private jet that crashed north of Moscow on Wednesday evening, Russian authorities said.

According to that, the Russian authorities announced that it is suspected that almost all the people who traveled on the plane are dead.

However, it has not yet been possible to confirm whether Yevgeni was on the plane, Western media reports.

According to Russia’s RT news service, the plane crash in question took place near the village of Kushenkino in the northwestern Tver region.

Some have identified the plane as an Embraer Legacy 600, with the number RA-02795 believed to belong to Yevgeny. However, this has not yet been confirmed by the Russian authorities.

The Russian authorities have started a special investigation regarding the incident and the Russian media also mentions that members of the security forces have arrived at the place where the plane crashed. Also, the Russian authorities state that eight bodies have been found so far and ten people have traveled with the crew of the plane.

Yevgeny, 62, led a revolt against Russia’s forces on June 23-24. However, many analysts expressed their doubts regarding these riots.
