SLFP has taken a decision to remove MPs who got ministerial posts

According to its General Secretary, Member of Parliament Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekara, the party has decided to remove the MPs who have taken government and state ministerial positions against the opinion of the party.

He mentioned that the party chairman, former president Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, has informed them through letters that six people who got positions in the government will be removed from all the positions they held in the party.

Accordingly, Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekara says that all positions held by the following members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party namely senior vice presidents of the party, Nimal Siripala da Silva, Mahinda Amaraweera, who got ministerial posts in the government, party treasurer Lasantha Alagiyawanna, who got ministerial posts, deputy secretaries Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, a deputy secretary, Mr. Jagath Pushpakumara, will be abolished.

He mentioned that this step was taken as the first decision taken against them, and no decision has been taken regarding their party membership so far.

The Secretary General added that the state ministers Mr. Shantha Bandara and Mr. Suren Raghavan, who got the positions in the government, were also removed from the positions they held in the party earlier.
