The police headquarters has announced the police security and special traffic plan for the May Day demonstrations that will be held tomorrow (01) on the occasion of World Labor Day.
Various political parties and trade union organizations have organized May Day marches and meetings tomorrow.
Therefore, in connection with that, the police have already planned the necessary activities to provide security, traffic control and road safety as well as to maintain regular traffic.
The police headquarters has already given the necessary instructions and orders to the senior DIGs in charge of the provinces, the DIGs in charge of the districts as well as the senior superintendents of police in charge of the divisions to carry out the necessary activities regarding the demonstrations and meetings held in the outlying provinces.
Accordingly, the necessary security arrangements and special traffic plans for the May Day rallies and demonstrations to be held in Gampaha, Anuradhapura, Matara, Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy will be implemented by the police.
About 2,100 police officers and 1,300 officers are scheduled to be deployed for security duties for the May Day celebrations in Colombo and arrangements have been made to implement a special traffic plan as follows during this period.
