China calls on Canada to provide a fair and unchanged business environment for Chinese companies, following market economy principles. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mr. Wang Wenbin said this while attending the regular press conference held yesterday (31).
Canada announced on the 30th that they will ban the use of the WeChat application on smart phones used for official government work. Mr. Wang Wenbin strongly opposed it and expressed the above comments.
WeChat is a private company’s social media platform. Mr. Wang Wenbin also said that China strongly opposes the process of banning WeChat by the Canadian government under the guise of digital security without any evidence.
