United Nations officials have lauded China’s One Belt One Road initiative, acknowledging the positive impact it has had on various developing countries. Mr. Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, commended the Chinese government’s vision and leadership in promoting the program. He emphasized that the initiative would provide substantial support for the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Additionally, Mr. Achim Steiner, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, highlighted the opportunities the One Belt One Road program has created for many developing nations. Participating countries view it as a valuable development opportunity, offering them diverse options for progress. Steiner noted that China’s contributions have been significant, especially in aiding the economic recovery of developing countries amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed confidence that China’s continued support would play a crucial role in achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
