The government of the United States announced that it has decided to send another two hundred million dollars worth of military aid to Ukraine.
This military aid stockpile also includes ammunition for air defense systems, artillery ammunition and additional demining equipment. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that this aid includes weapons used to destroy armored vehicles.
Meanwhile, Reuters, citing two senior US officials, reported that Washington had taken advantage of the $6.2 billion discovered after the Pentagon’s accounting error, which showed an overestimation of military aid to Ukraine. .
In May of this year, the Pentagon announced that staff had replaced “depreciated value” with “replacement value” to tabulate billions worth of ammunition, missiles and other equipment. Accordingly, the Pentagon stated that a high value was given to the US weapons shipped to Kiev.
The President of Ukraine has expressed his gratitude regarding the aid to be provided by the United States and has also stated that the weapons will be a great help in the retreat of the Russian forces.
There is strong public opposition to the US spending a large amount of taxpayers’ money on the war in Ukraine. There, people point out that the related funds should be used to provide the social security facilities available in the United States locally.
