A monk from a Sevanagala temple deceived a businessman stating that he has a stock of 20 kilos of gold and absconded after receiving an amount of Rs. 30 million from a businessman for that stock of gold.
According to the Sevanagala Police, a monk named Bagala Rahula, who was staying at Ranweligama Sri Rambodhi Temple, Kiriwewa, Sevanagala, committed this fraud.
A businessman residing in Dodangoda, Wewalagoda, has lost an amount of Rs. 30 million after being caught in the fraud of this monk.
A senior police officer stated that the Embilipitiya Divisional Criminal Investigation Division has started investigations in this regard and is currently investigating whether the monk has fled the country.
