The Small Tea Estate Development Authority mentions that the price of fresh tea leaves has gone up by 100%.
Chairman of the Small Tea Estate Development Authority, Mr. Thushara Priyadarshana said that a few months ago, the price of a kilo of fresh tea leaves was between Rs. 100 and Rs. 130.
But he also mentioned that the price of a kilogram of raw tea leaves has exceeded Rs. 260.
The chairman further said that the tea cultivators have got the advantage of the increase in the price of the dollar compared to the rupee.
