Minister of State for Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal says that Sri Lanka will not tolerate further closure of the country.
He emphasized that the oppression faced due to the lockdown by the 4.5 million people in the small and medium scale sector could no longer be tolerated.
He told that the long-term impact would not be small if the country was not kept open with strict health restrictions.
“Sri Lanka will no longer tolerate the closure of the country. Half of the population will not be able to face the consequences of this lockout. 45 lakhs of people in the small and medium scale sector can no longer bear the burden caused by this.
The macroeconomic factors in the country are shocking. The long-term economic damage is enormous. As strict health regulations are enforced, the country must remain open. Duties, business and other activities must continue. “
