By this time, Sri Lankan young musician, Satheeshan Ratnayake’s song “Menike Mage Hithe” with young singer Yohani de Silva has become a viral video in YouTube and it is rapidly gaining popularity among music fans all over the world including India.

The song has garnered over 53.7 million views over the night of 2021.08.23, just past midnight on Yohani’s YouTube channel.

Also, the original YouTube music video of Satheeshan and Dulan ARX singing has crossed 14 million views on their channel (Aryan Music).  In addition to the original video, according to a study conducted by the author on 23.08.2021 based on seventy videos based on “Manike Mage Hithe” published in many different languages and with using different strategies, there are eight YouTube channels with over one million views (1.5 to 20 million).  Teddy Gupta (KDspuNKY youtube channel) is in the forefront of this.  The battleShow YouTube official channel also presents Yohani’s coverup videos with several different singers, making it one of the most watched YouTube channels.

By this we mean that the wave created by Yohani and Satheeshan have traveled all over the world today.  There are many different types of youtube channels and singers who take a fountain from their wave.  Today, like Yohani, Sathishan has become a global brand.  Also, there has been a wave of many new youtube channels.

A video of Hindi actor and legend Amitabh Bachchan likes so much about the song “Menike Mage Sithe” was uploaded to the internet by his granddaughter “Navya Naveli” based on his dance in his “Kalia” movie, and he posted on Amitabh Bachchan’s official Twitter account on his interest.  Due to this, the song went viral in India.  Also, a reaction video made by the popular BTS band for this song can be seen on the internet. The BTS reaction video has received over 500,000 views on the AshiBro YouTube channel.

Yohani and Satheeshan try their best to make a Sinhala song the most popular song in the world. Today we came across another youtube video in many different languages and polished by Udara Jayasekara’s “Gata Bera Drum”.

We must extend our warmest congratulations to all, including Yohani, who dedicated her life to the world with a Sinhala song. Yohani’s lyrical video also ranks second among Spotify’s top 50 virals.

Who are the creators of the music video ‘Menike Mage Hithe’ Youtube Video?

The first song was composed by Dulanja Alwis (Dulan ARX) with beautiful lyrics and music by Chamath Sangeeth, voiced by Dulan ARX and Satheeshan Ratnayake.  The rap part of the original song is said to have been done by Dulan.

The composers of the original song then decided together and invited Yohani to do a coverup version of the song. The director of the new video is a master craftsman.

With a “unique female voice” who voluntarily pursues mashup and coverup music, Yohani can quickly take our country, Sri Lanka, further into the world. Many of the videos and songs she made were embraced by audiences because of her cute looks and her distinctive style. We can see that she has a strong and long musical future.

Who is Yohani?

The eldest daughter of retired Sri Lankan warlord, Major General Prasanna de Silva. She holds an undergraduate degree in “Supply Chain Management” from Sir John Kotelawala University and a first-class postgraduate degree in accounting from an Australian university.

She studied photography and music, and showed her talents in those fields also.  She once said that her musical journey was inspired by various challenges.  She looked at it with her usual smile and contempt every time society embarrassed her and made a good living out of it.  The secret of her progress is the humility that is not found in many in society today and the great quality of being courageous with a sense of team spirit.

The social network economy is the future of the world

Rasika Jayakody writes in his Facebook social space, “The highest earning potential in the world of the future lies with people with unique skills and creativity.”

Prof. Nalin Abeysekera, Head of the Department of Marketing Studies, Open University of Sri Lanka, stated in his Facebook social space,

“Dhanush’s song of ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’, which was released 9 years ago, was a popular topic in viral marketing at the time. The song is full of creativity.”

Prof. Abeysekara further states,
“Professors at Indian universities and institutes of higher learning at the time proudly discussed Dhanush’s song ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’ with students on marketing and management.  “Why this Kolaveri Di” became a ‘hit’.

Professor Abeysekara further states that at the same time, Lahiru Perera was criticized by those in Sri Lankan veterans who thought they were an expert on the field, song “Rambari” for spending hundreds of columns in the newspapers to bring Lahiru down.

Instead of constructive criticism, Sri Lankan veteran scholars did so because destructive criticism has been ingrained in our genes and because of the hereditary hypocrisy of the body.

The professor extends his warmest greetings to Yohani and Satheeshan.

“The Sri Lankan community needs to see the popularity of this song in the world, including Sri Lanka and India, as well as respect their talent, motivate newcomers, inspire and think differently.”

Shashi Nishadi, who is spreading more virally on social media these days, has been criticized by many for her unique creative dance, which she performs when she gets stars from her audience (such as “Sandaru Aiya”) through game online streaming. They give the following reasons for that.

  1. The way she behaves when she gets stars and then the dance is inappropriate for Sri Lankan morality.
  2. Her game online streaming business has personal advantages but is detrimental to the country’s foreign exchange.

Many people appear to criticize when doing something. It is a world truth.

In the future, there will be more followers for Yohani and Shashi Nishadi in Sri Lanka. But in doing all the online and social media business, everyone should be concerned about creativity, flexibility, local and global ethical standards.  The government should not hesitate to take legal action against any immoral or illegal activity.  In the same way, to protect the rights of designers, everyone must think and act together.

What is a social media-based economy?

There are many people in Sri Lanka and around the world who benefit from the use of social media. There are many bloggers and vloggers in Sri Lanka. They make huge profits from it.  It is through the proper valuation of their unique talents.  The “Nilame” is a Youtube group that plays a very important role among vloggers.  Awareness of Sri Lanka’s innovations and various products to the public is the appreciable work of the “Nilame” team.  They value their ability through youtube and through a methodology that is unique to them.

We must wholeheartedly appreciate the designers who contribute to the Sri Lankan economy by valuing their unique talents. The government, as well as society as a whole, must wholeheartedly support their role.

I highly appreciate your voice on this dialogue.
