The Seeduwa Police have arrested a girl who had identified eachother through Facebook and had gone to another girl’s house and stole jewelery.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the robbery wasn’t committed by a 24 year old girl from Minuwangoda, Mathammana who had come to the house of a 22 year old girl from Kotugoda, Seeduwa.
Ajith Rohana also said that the Minuwangoda girl had joined the Seeduwa girl months ago through Facebook and had formed a friendship. He said that the girl from Minuwangoda had come to the girl’s house in Seeduwa last January and had returned again to Seeduwa house the day before yesterday.
Ajith Rohana said that the residents of Seeduwa house had lodged a complaint during a search conducted after the Minuwangoda girl left the house, with the Seeduwa Police regarding the disappearance of a gold necklace worth Rs. 1.5 million from the house. It has also been revealed that a gold bracelet had been stolen from the house when she had visited the house in January. Ajith Rohana further stated that the police are investigating whether she had gone to the houses of other persons identified in this manner through the Facebook and stolen them.
