The Ministry of Finance has focused on identifying investment opportunities in sectors that are of national priority and formulating a formal integrated approach to promote them.
A special discussion in this regard was held at the Ministry of Finance today (28) under the patronage of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the program will expedite the identification of areas where investment opportunities are abundant, such as fisheries and pharmaceuticals, as well as various areas that can attract investment and prepare the environment for the implementation of projects. It is hoped to set up a systematic advertising mechanism to educate local and foreign investors on such identified sectors.
Discussions also focused on expanding the facilities available to investors by developing an inter-coordination program between relevant government agencies to enable them to perform their services more efficiently.
Minister of State Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Mr. S. R. Atigala and a delegation from the investment sector participated in this.
