Former Member of Parliament Upeksha Swarnamali, a popular actress in the country, has been arrested by the Katugastota Police.
She was going home after a rehearsal of a reality program in a popular Media Network.
The car she was driving had collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist said to be 18 years old has been hospitalized with injuries. Peradeniya Hospital stated that those injuries are not severe.
After admitting the youth to the Peradeniya Hospital, his parents had been informed by Upeksha Swarnamali, the official said. Upeksha Swarnamali then went to the police station and reported the accident and was arrested accordingly.
The arrested Ms. Upeksha Swarnamali is due to be produced in court today.
