State Minister Mr. Sanath Nishantha along with his security officer died in a car accident on the Katunayake highway this morning.
The accident took place at around 2.00 am near the R 11.01 kilometer post of the expressway when the jeep which was traveling towards Colombo from Katunayake collided with a container which was traveling in the same direction.
There, the vehicle in which State Minister Sanath Nishantha was traveling collided with the safety fence of the road.
State Minister Sanath Nishantha, security officer Police Constable Jayakodi and the driver of the jeep who were seriously injured in this accident have been admitted to Ragama Hospital. The minister and the security officer died after hospitalization.
