Health Workers Across the Country are on Strike – Army is Deployed to Hospitals

Members of 72 trade unions, including paramedic and paramedic service professionals, are on a one-day strike in hospitals across the country today (16).

Requesting that the increased stipend of 35000 rupees be given to the doctors as well.

Based on the above request, most of the relevant trade unions went on strike recently.

Due to the lack of positive response from the government, they stopped it temporarily and started a 24-hour strike again from today.

The three armed forces have been called to the hospitals due to the health worker strike that is going on all over the island.

It was based on a request made by the Ministry of Health.

Acting Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe says that he is ready to meet with Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana this afternoon (16).

It is to discuss the existing problems in the health sector and find solutions.
