Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera, the Minister of Power and Energy, has ordered to suspend the service of the striking employees and take disciplinary action by obstructing the supply of electricity, which is an essential service.
In a letter to the Chairman of the Electricity Board, the Minister has said that on the last 03rd, 04th and 05th days, due to the strike action of the electricity board employees, public complaints have been received about closing the payment windows undermining the offices providing public services.
Therefore, the letter also requested information from the Chairman of the Electricity Board about the employees who participated in the strike without reporting to work even though the management had cancelled the leave.
