The Meteorological Department says that the sky will remain heavy with clouds in most parts of the island.
Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces and Matale, Polonnaruwa and Nuwara Eliya districts will experience occasional rain or thundershowers.
Few rains may occur in Northern Province and Anuradhapura district.
Scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in the rest of the island after 2.00pm.
Eastern, Uva, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 75mm in some places.
Foggy conditions may prevail in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces in the morning.
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the danger caused by temporary gusty winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
