Low-Pressure Zone Expected in Central Bay of Bengal – Warning to Fishermen

0

The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning about the potential formation of a low-pressure zone in the central Bay of Bengal sea area by tomorrow (20). Fishing and marine communities have been advised to stay vigilant and heed announcements from the Meteorological Department. The ongoing rainy conditions in various parts of the island, caused by the convergence zone of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres, are expected to persist until tomorrow. However, meteorologists have indicated a quantitative decrease in rainfall on land in the coming days.

While occasional showers and thunderstorms are anticipated in the sea areas around the island, some regions might experience heavy rains. Winds blowing from the southwest or in unspecified directions are expected at speeds ranging from 20-30 kmph. Currently, sea areas around the island are reported as normal, but thunderstorms could temporarily cause strong winds, leading to rough seas in specific areas. The public is advised to stay informed about weather updates and exercise caution, especially in coastal regions and at sea.
