Flood Warnings Issued for Multiple Rivers in Sri Lanka

The Irrigation Department has issued flood warnings for several rivers in Sri Lanka, including Attanagalu Oya, Kalu River, Nilwala River, and Ging River, among others. The risk of flooding has been highlighted for the next 24 hours, particularly in specific Divisional Secretariat Divisions.

In the Attanagalu Oya area, Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Ja-Ela, Katana, and Waththala divisions are on high alert due to the risk of flooding. Similarly, areas along the Ging River basin, including Weliwitiyadiwithura, Baddegama, Niyagama, Neluwa, Thavalama, Nagoda, Elpitiya, and Bope-Poddala, are also under flood risk.

The Kuda River sub-basin of Kalu Ganga has issued flood warnings for Palindanuwara and Bulathsinghala areas, while Nilwala River poses a threat to Kotapola, Pitabeddara, Akurassa, Pasgoda, Athuraliya, Malimbada, Thihagoda, Matara, and Devinuwara regions.

Residents in these areas are advised to stay vigilant, take necessary precautions, and follow local authorities’ guidance to ensure their safety during this period of heightened flood risk.
