Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, while addressing reporters in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, reiterated allegations of Indian involvement in the murder of Sikh separatist and Khalistani leader Singh Nijjar in Canada. Trudeau emphasized that there are credible reasons to suspect the role of Indian agents in this incident.

“As I mentioned on Monday, there are credible reasons to believe that agents of the Indian government were involved in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil,” Trudeau stated. He further asserted that Canada’s stance on this matter demonstrates its commitment to the rules-based international order it upholds.

However, when pressed by reporters about the extent of credibility regarding his claims, Trudeau did not provide a direct response. He emphasized Canada’s rigorous and independent justice system, emphasizing that the country allows these justice processes to proceed with the utmost integrity.

Trudeau revealed that he had a “direct and candid conversation” with Indian Prime Minister Modi and shared his concerns during their meeting.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States have expressed their concerns regarding Canada’s allegations against the Indian government. U.S. National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, stated that the U.S. is consulting closely with the Canadian Government regarding their allegations against India. He also noted that the U.S. is in communication with the Indian government.

“I firmly reject the notion that there is a division between the U.S. and Canada on this matter. We have significant concerns about these allegations and believe that a thorough investigation is necessary to hold the perpetrators accountable,” Sullivan emphasized.
