Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapattu managed to reach the first place in the women’s batting rankings of the International Cricket Council. Accordingly, she also won the honor of being the first Sri Lankan women cricketer to be ranked first in the world ODI rankings.
She scored an unbeaten 108 in the first ODI against New Zealand in Galle.
She helped the Sri Lankan team chase 172 runs in that match which was interrupted by rain. After being dismissed in the second match that New Zealand went on to win, she scored 140 off 80 balls to help her team win the rain-interrupted 3rd match and series.
