The day before Yesterday (23) the officers of the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested a member of the Anamaduwa Regional Council who allegedly committed a financial fraud of Rs. 24 million by illegally leasing a 200-acre land belonging to the government to a foreigner.
Anil Munasinghe (49), a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, has been arrested by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department.
This MP, who is a resident of Kottukachchiya, Galkulama defrauded a foreigner by leasing a land in Malpaluwa Grama Niladhari domain of Mahakumbukkadawala Divisional Secretariat.
The Criminal Investigation Department stated that the suspect was arrested after conducting a long investigation in this regard.
