The third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) started this evening (06) at the Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota.
Chamari Athapatthu, the captain of the Sri Lankan women’s cricket team, announced that this year’s LPL tournament has officially started.
Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Shammi Silva, Secretary Mohan De Silva, Chief Executive Officer Ashley De Silva, Director of the LPL tournament, Samantha Dodanwala and Managing Director of the IPG company Mr. Anil Mohan and a group of officers participated in this event.
Starting the tournament, the first match between Jaffna Kings and Galle Gladiators is currently being held.
Batting first, the Jaffna Kings scored 137 runs in 19.5 overs.
