The 5 spill gates of the Deduru Oya Reservoir are releasing a capacity of 10,500 cubic feet per second at a rate of 3 feet per second.

The Disaster Management Center warns the people living on both sides of the Deduru Oya to pay attention to this dangerous situation.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy districts today (6), the Met Department said. Heavy showers are also possible at around 50 mm in some places in those areas.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern Provinces during the evening or night. Meteorologists are urging the public to take necessary measures to reduce the risks of temporary strong winds and thunderstorms.
