So far, foreign media have confirmed that Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has resigned from the presidency of Sri Lanka.
Responding to the call made by newswaveLK to the mobile phone of Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeygunawardena to confirm in this regard,
an official from his office said that the office has received such a letter and will inform the public officially after confirming its legal status.
However, Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who came to Singapore from the Maldives, is currently staying in Singapore.
An unconfirmed letter of resignation is also currently circulating on social media.
