“I do not accept the Easter Commission’s recommendation” – Maithripala Sirisena

1

Former President Maithripala Sirisena said in Parliament today that he rejects the recommendation made by the Presidential Commission to investigate the Easter attack on the assumption that he knew in advance that the Easter attack was coming.

Mr. Maithripala Sirisena said this while commenting on a statement made by Minister Manusha Nanayakkara in Parliament.

Mr. Maithripala Sirisena also said:

“6 months ago we asked to form an all-party government with President Gotabaya. We also told the country. We also said that we would take ministerial positions.

There are 08 human rights cases about the Easter attack. There are more than four hundred lawsuits demanding compensation. I appointed the Presidential Commission on Easter Attacks. The report is based on the assumption that we knew this attack was coming. I do not have a single case as per the recommendation of the Easter Commission. On the advice of my attorneys, I decline that recommendation. I don’t even accept it.

The media hype about the recommendations is completely wrong. There is no solid conclusion to sue me. Although they are trying to hold me responsible for the Easter attack. Even the terrorists in jail have not been prosecuted yet. Accusing me of this is a political conspiracy.”
