The National Disaster Management Center has warned that minor flooding may affect the low-lying areas of the Ging River in the next 24 hours.
Accordingly, minor flooding may occur in Welivitiya Divithura, Baddegama, Kotopola, Hikkaduwa, Niagama, Neluwa, Thavalama, Akmeemana, Nagoda, Elpitiya, Bope Poddala.
Meteorologists also say that some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts may receive more than 100 mm of heavy rain today.
