MP Dullas Alahapperuma says that 45 Members of Parliament have been assassinated since 1959.
He said it was time to read the politics behind the assassination of MPs from then until today.
According to the assassins, this is due to the problem of political ideology held by the MPs, he said.
He further stated that if not, similar condolences will be made regarding him or other MPs in the near future.
He mentioned this while speaking during the condolence motion in Parliament on Amarakeerthi Athukorala, who was assassinated during the recent protests.
He said that every 19 months since 1959 and every year since 1980, it has been revealed that there has been an assassination of a Member of Parliament.
