The US Department of Agriculture has agreed to provide financial assistance for a market-oriented dairy products project in Sri Lanka.
The Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture in this regard.
The press release issued by the Cabinet Office in this regard is as follows.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has agreed to provide financial assistance for the implementation of a market-oriented dairy project aimed at using the highest quality methods to enhance the productivity of dairy farmers and the quality of their products.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has also agreed to provide the necessary funding for the project until September 2024. The proposed project is planned to continue with 38 key stakeholders in the public and private sector dairy sector with their capacity-building programs.
Accordingly, the Cabinet approved the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the US Department of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture in Sri Lanka for the implementation of the proposed project.
