The Mt. Lavinia CID has arrested a businessman involved in a local vehicle assembly business who had collected money from various individuals claiming that electric vehicles are being provided at low prices and not provided any vehicles.
He was arrested by the Mount Lavinia CID while traveling in a car in Mirihana, a senior police official said.
The Mount Lavinia court has even issued a warrant against the businessman, the official said.
The official further stated that this businessman is under the protection of various politicians.
The suspect businessman is to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
