Former President Maithripala Sirisena said in Anuradhapura yesterday (5) that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is not ready to go after anyone and become a tail.
He said that the party will organize and present a new program to the country and the party will join with those who join that program.
He said that the third force in Parliament is the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and that it was not a party that had perished.
He was addressing the Anuradhapura District Convention of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
The former President also stated the following.
“It is necessary to give priority to the problems of the farmers. The present government cannot reduce the usage of chemical fertilizers of the farmers all at once.
From time to time I was the Minister of Mahaweli, the Minister of Agriculture and as well as the president, I started the organic fertilizer project. I created the first Organic Fertilizer Authority in Sri Lanka in 2007, and I was not allowed to do that either.
We, the people of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, have a great history with our great historical heritage and we all farmers are sad about where agriculture and agriculture have fallen in the present.
Many friends of mine told me that the speech I made in Matale yesterday (04) was on point.
Even in the morning, while I am on my way from Polonnaruwa, some told me over the phone that the speech was a bit harsh. I spoke harshly to show that we too can speak harshly.

What is needed again is to adapt our journey in the current economic, social and political crisis to move this country forward. We have been talking about fraud, corruption, and theft for 25-30 years. The people of this country have voted for the last 15-20 years to form governments without corruption. After the election, the government will become a government of robbers.
It is an obstacle to development in this country. I came out of the Rajapaksa government on November 21, 2014, with a very pure and sincere intention to come out as the common candidate at great risk to the lives of all my children, including my wife. Some shook their heads and said don’t sentence yourselves to death, you can never do that, you can never win. Many asked someone like Maithripala Sirisena from Polonnaruwa could defeat ‘Maha Rajano’. But everyone knows what happened.
Due to the decisions taken by the government today, political management and public administration management have been erred. The country’s economy and international relations management have been screwed up. The 20th Amendment passed last year should be repealed. It is necessary to take the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which was passed by me, then rectify its shortcomings, and pass it with the 19th Amendment that was passed by us previously to take the country forward.
The world does not care about the face or positions of heads of state. He said that making foreign relations and winning the hearts of foreign officials is also an art.
