Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga says that 19,222 tourists have arrived in the country during the first two weeks of this month.
He said the tourists had come from India, Russia, France, Canada, Germany, Maldives, Pakistan, USA and Switzerland.
He also said that 80,310 tourists have arrived in the country since the country was opened to tourists in January.
He said that the temporary solutions could not rebuild the tourism industry which had collapsed due to Covid and the country should be opened to tourists in a hygienic environment such as vaccination to rebuild the collapsed tourism industry.
Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga also said the government is aware of the current situation.
