The Prime Minister Receives Poppy Flower from Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association

The Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association symbolically put a poppy flower on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today (26th October) commemorating World Remembrance Day.

World Poppy Day or Remembrance Day, is commemorated worldwide on 11th November every year to remember the fallen war heroes around the world.

Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association has planned to celebrate World Poppy Day on the 14th of November this year under strict Covid-19 health guidelines.

Proceeding from the sale of poppy flowers will be donated annually to the welfare of the war-hero- families.
Major General (Retired) Upul Perera- Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association presented their annual magazine “Veteran” to the Prime Minister.

Hon. Johnston Fernando- Minister of Highways, Mr. Gamini Senarath- Secretary to the Prime Minister, Major General (Retired) Mahinda Ambanpola -Vice President of the Sri Lanka Ex- Servicemen’s Association and other officials from the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association were also present at the occasion.
