Covid Mortality Rate is higher in SL relative to other Southeast Asian countries – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) says Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 mortality rate has risen by 19% by the last week of August.

According to a weekly report by the organization, Covid deaths are declining in Southeast Asia, while Covid deaths are on the rise in Sri Lanka, East Timor and India.

Accordingly, Covid deaths in East Timor rose by 32% and by 17% in India last week.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says there have been 14,000 new corona deaths in the Southeast Asian region this week and it is 20 percent lower relative to the previous week.
