Prison officials have found a mobile phone in the cell of MP Rishad Bathiudeen at the Colombo Magazine Prison yesterday.
Prisons Media Spokesman, Commissioner of Prisons (Administration) Chandana Ekanayake confirmed this.
Mr. Chandana Ekanayake said that Rishard Bathiudeen was calling someone using a mobile phone while Chief Jailor and another jailor were on their way to the cell where Rishad Bathiudeen was lodged and when Rishard saw the officers he had thrown it out the window.
The Commissioner of Prisons (Administration) Chandana Ekanayake further stated that the use of mobile phones in prisons is prohibited and steps will be taken to bring him before a prison tribunal in this regard.
