The Ministry of Public Defense is focusing on paying the full salary of the officers until they reach the retirement age, to the families of police officers who die of the Covid 19 virus while on duty.
Minister of Public Defense Dr. Sarath Weerasekera today instructed the Secretary to the Ministry, Major General Jagath Alwis to prepare a cabinet paper in this regard.
The Ministry of Public Security says that 11,700 police officers have been infected with the Covid 19 virus and 28 have died.
